Foundations San Francisco
Foundations San Francisco is headquartered in the Embarcadero district in San Francisco and offers patients access to all that the Bay Area has to offer as they undergo a uniquely personalized treatment plan for recovery from drug and alcohol addiction on an outpatient basis. Patients can choose between therapeutic treatment programs that take place during the day or evening; both offer a wide range of treatment interventions, including:
- Psychotherapy to address drug abuse and addiction
- Treatment for co-occurring mental health issues
- Group therapy and peer support
- Family therapy and support
Our program focuses on providing integrated treatment to patients that meets their individual needs, giving them the respect and anonymity they need to maintain their careers and reputation within the community while helping them to move efficiently and safely toward a drug-free life that is characterized by balance.
Foundations San Francisco is dedicated to helping people who might not otherwise seek treatment due to a high-paced career get the addiction treatment they need to get back on track. We additionally provide for intensive mental health care as needed to ensure that no patient “falls through the cracks” due to an unbalanced treatment protocol. Long-term success in recovery only comes when the patient gets the treatment necessary to address all obstacles to sobriety, including intrusive mental health symptoms. At Foundations San Francisco, we provide comprehensive care that helps patients to heal on all fronts, leaving drug and alcohol use firmly in the past.
Director of Outpatient Services, Foundations San Francisco
Melissa Stevenson joined Foundations San Francisco as director of outpatient services in 2014, but she began her career in the treatment field in San Diego, working with homeless veterans who were suffering from addiction and mental illness. Since that time, Melissa has honed her skills by working with couples, families and groups to foster health and recovery from co-occurring disorders. Melissa has a strong commitment to helping those around her find healing, believing that recovery is always possible. She has extensive experience working with trauma, psychosis, depression, anxiety and addiction in both for-profit and non-profit mental health programs. Prior to joining Foundations San Francisco, she served as a program director for a therapeutic community in San Diego as well as an associate director for evidence-based programs in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Located in the Embarcadero district, Foundations San Francisco offers treatment to patients in need of care for both addiction issues and mental health symptoms and/or disorders. Both day and evening sessions of treatment are available on an outpatient basis.
Foundations San Francisco is located at 55 Francisco St., Suite 405, San Francisco, CA, 94133.

They are available to assist you in staging an intervention for your addicted loved one and to help families transition from active addiction into active recovery. We can refer you to the right interventionist for your needs. Because our goal is connecting patients in need with the treatment that will help them heal, we offer this service free of charge.
In some cases, patients may benefit from medications that can aid them in the recovery process or address ongoing issues with chronic pain. In order to help patients avoid the pitfalls that can come with managing their own prescription for addictive medications, Foundations San Francisco provides the service of medication management to those who need it.

Ongoing support is the goal of our aftercare alumni services, and we listen carefully to what each patient needs in order to provide that effectively and encourage the long-term success of all patients.
